Air Quality Monitoring Overview
The National Environmental Management: Air Quality Act, Act No. 39 of 2004 mandates organs of state at national, provincial and local spheres of government to manage and monitor ambient air quality within South Africa. The Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Module within SAAQIS is an online platform that houses and enables access to ambient air quality data and reports of the various monitoring stations that report to SAAQIS. The objective is to provide all stakeholders with relevant, up to date and accurate information on ambient air quality monitoring activities within South Africa in order to support informed decision making.
